Cutting

Granite began his performance career in cutting under trainer Trent Smith, progressing through aged-event competition before establishing himself as a consistent Open and $5,000 Novice competitor. A significant early result came at the 2022 NCHA Autumn Spectacular Open Futurity, where Granite and Smith scored 219.5 to finish equal fourth, earning $3,109.14. He subsequently placed third at the 2022 NSW Cutting Horse Club Deb Elliott Memorial Pink Cutting and continued to compete successfully in Open and Novice cutting competition. His later results included second in both the Open and $5,000 Novice at the Southern Cross Cutting Horse Club Canowindra Championship Show, before qualifying for the NCHA National Finals, where he finished ninth in the Open Classic and equal eighth in the $5,000 Novice. Granite subsequently transitioned into campdrafting, demonstrating the versatility anticipated from his combination of cutting genetics and proven Australian campdrafting maternal bloodlines. After beginning his campdraft career with Matt Moffat in 2024, he was campaigned by Jason Birney in 2025, recording scores of 90 in the Bollon Novice B and Glenmorgan Open, as well as 88 in the Balonne Branch ASH Maiden. His performance career across both cutting and campdrafting demonstrates Granite’s ability to take the cattle sense, responsiveness and athleticism required in the cutting pen and successfully apply those attributes in the broader Australian campdraft arena.

Granite is an Australian Quarter Horse stallion combining elite American cutting genetics with one of Australia’s most accomplished campdrafting maternal families. By Metallic Cat and out of champion campdraft mare One Moore Annie, Granite is a full brother to NCHA Open Futurity Champion Moore Metal and represents a pedigree with strong relevance to both cutting and campdrafting. Standing approximately 15.1hh, Granite is a substantial, athletic stallion noted for his balance, cattle sense and ability to work at speed. His pedigree brings the influence of Metallic Cat together with an Australian maternal family developed around proven performance bloodlines including One Moore Playboy, One Moore Spin and Acres Destiny. The strength of Granite’s breeding lies particularly in this combination of modern cutting genetics with an established Australian cow-horse family. His dam, One Moore Annie, has been both an accomplished performer and an influential producer, giving Granite a maternal foundation already proven in Australian competition. Granite offers Australian breeders an opportunity to access Metallic Cat genetics through a locally proven female family, with the versatility to suit breeding programs targeting cutting, campdrafting and other western performance disciplines.
