Overview

Guns And Dynamite is a 2016 sorrel Quarter Horse stallion combining the proven reining genetics of Gunners Special Nite with a strong maternal family descending from Smart Starbuck and Smart Chic Olena. Out of Chic Olena Starbuck, by Smart Starbuck, his pedigree brings together the influence of Colonels Smoking Gun (Gunner), Smart Little Lena and Grays Starlight, creating a concentration of bloodlines that have had a substantial impact on modern reining. His sire, Gunners Special Nite, is a World Equestrian Games double gold medallist, NRHA Open Futurity Reserve Champion and NRHA $8 Million Sire, while his maternal grandsire, Smart Starbuck, was an NRHA Open Futurity Champion and an established sire of reining performers. This combination is reinforced through his second dam, Sanger Chic, a daughter of Smart Chic Olena, giving Guns And Dynamite a pedigree backed by performance and producing ability on both sides. Guns And Dynamite has also established his own credentials at the highest levels of reining, with lifetime earnings exceeding $309,000. His career has included major success from his three-year-old season onward, highlighted by his 2019 NRHA Level 4 Open Futurity Reserve Championship, followed by sustained competition at the NRHA Derby, National Reining Breeders Classic and The Run For A Million. His longevity has seen him remain in Open competition through 2026 with riders including Cade McCutcheon, Shawn Flarida, Matt Mills and Arno Honstetter. Now entering the breeding phase of his career, Guns And Dynamite offers breeders a combination of an elite individual performance record and a pedigree anchored by some of reining's most influential sire lines. As a son of Gunners Special Nite from the Smart Starbuck–Smart Chic Olena maternal family, he represents a direct continuation of several proven performance and producing lines within modern reining.
