He was Reserve Champion at the 1986 NRHA Futurity Open as a three-year-old, and split 3rd at the TQHA National Stakes Open Reining Futurity the same year. In 1987 he was NRHA Open Derby Champion, NRHA Open Super Stakes Champion, and placed 4th in the NRHA Derby Super Stakes Plus Open. In 1997 he was NRHA Super Stakes Limited Open Senior Co-Reserve Champion.

Hollywood Dun It is a 1983 dun Quarter Horse stallion (AQHA #2086591), bred by Gwen L. Steif of Kildeer, Illinois. He is by Hollywood Jac 86 (out of Miss Hollywood) and out of Blossom Berry (by Dun Berry, out of Regina Bella). Ridden by trainer and future owner Tim McQuay, he first attracted national attention as a three-year-old, taking Reserve Champion at the 1986 NRHA Futurity. He retired to stud in 1988, standing at McQuay Stables, Inc., Pilot Point, TX. Hollywood Dun It became one of the breed's most influential reining sires. His first two foal crops earned in excess of $350,000, and by age 16 his offspring earnings had passed the NRHA $1 million mark. He became NRHA's first $4 million sire, and has since surpassed $7.7 million in progeny earnings. He was inducted into the NRHA Hall of Fame in 2000 and the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame in 2012. He was euthanised in March 2005.
