Cutting

Moore Metal established a highly successful cutting career in Australia, earning more than A$91,000 in NCHA lifetime earnings. His career was highlighted by victory in the 2016 NCHA Open Futurity, where he and trainer Trent Smith scored 226 to claim the championship and its $75,000 winner's prize. He also placed third in the 2016 DDCC Open Futurity before returning in 2017 to win the Cotton Country Open Derby at Goondiwindi, alongside further Open Derby and Novice placings. His success continued in 2018 with wins in the PVCC Open Cutting and North Star $15,000 Novice, together with Reserve Champion honours in the Southern Cross Novice. Moore Metal was also named AQHA High Point Cutting Horse of the Year for the 2017–18 season. His competitive career was subsequently cut short following a serious transport accident in 2018. Moore Metal has since extended his performance influence through his progeny. Most notably, his daughter Metaloo won the 2024 NCHA Open Futurity and was Reserve Champion in the 2025 NCHA Open Derby. Her Futurity victory made Moore Metal only the second stallion in Australia, after Docs Spinifex, to have both won the NCHA Open Futurity and subsequently sired an Open Futurity Champion.

Moore Metal is an Australian-bred Quarter Horse stallion by Metallic Cat and out of One Moore Annie, by One Moore Playboy. He combines one of cutting's most influential modern sires with a maternal family firmly established in Australian performance horse breeding. A successful cutting horse in his own right, Moore Metal's competitive career was cut short following a serious transport accident in 2018, shifting the focus of his career to breeding. He has since developed a growing record as a sire of successful competitors across cutting, campdrafting and cow horse disciplines. With proven performance on both sides of his pedigree and demonstrated success through his progeny, Moore Metal offers Australian breeders a combination of Metallic Cat genetics, an established Australian maternal family and proven sire performance.
